What do I have to consider with regards to cameras?

We upgrade any camera model and brand to a mobility sensor.

Factors to take into account include selecting the cameras, their ideal number and installation location, a reliable power source, a network connection, camera configuration, and the actual installation on site.

What kind of camera do I need?

We work with any Internet Protocol (IP) camera, including standard cameras, CCTV cameras, webcams and more. Parquery can use all brands including Axis, Bosch, Dahua, Hikvision, Samsung, Wenhua and any other.

Parquery detects objects in pictures from any camera, including Axis cameras.

Huawei integrates Parquery's API and provides results to parking managers and drivers.

Parquery detects objects in both images and video streams from any camera. All we need is the footage they produce. For video cameras, we sample and analyse the video stream at the interval the client requires, for example, every 10 seconds, once a minute, every 5 minutes, etc.

FAQ on cameras

Number and location

If there are no cameras installed yet, Parquery will help you identify the optimal number and most effective locations to cover your parking area. All we require from you is a map of your parking areas and the available installation height.

Starting from there, we create a 3D site model and simulate the camera views. Thus, we determine how many cameras we need and where to install them. The goal is to cover the entire parking area with the minimum number of cameras. This translates directly into saving you money: we monitor as many parking spots as possible with as few cameras as possible.

Parquery simulates where should cameras be installed for an ideal view
Parquery's camera simulation determines in advance how many cameras are needed and where to install them to cover the entire parking area.

What is the ideal camera view?

An ideal camera view to detect vehicles is to see them from the front or from the back.
Birds-eye view: Mount the camera as high as possible and align it such that vehicles seen from front or back to reduce the risk of occlusion.
Vehicles can hide each other when they are seen in a profile section.
Vehicles presented in profile might hide others.

Reliable power source

Ensure a reliable power source, for example, connect to the public electricity supply by cable or install solar panels.

Ideally, the cameras will be mounted on buildings, tall posts or atop street lamps. Once connected to a power source and running, the cameras can send images in real-time or at any time interval chosen by the customer.

For solar-powered cameras, the frequency for sending images depends on battery capacity.

Parquery needs only standard cameras, which can be powered by cable or solar panels
Parquery works with standard cameras powered by cable or solar panels.

Internet or a local network connection

The camera images are either processed remotely on Parquery’s cloud servers or on-site on a dedicated server. In either case, the cameras need a network connection:

  • An internet connection to use Parquery's cloud servers: ethernet cable, Wifi, 3G/4G SIM cards, etc.
  • A local network to process the data on-site. Parquery's algorithms will run on a local server, and images are transferred to this server via a local network.
Standard cameras should be connected to a local network or to the internet
The cameras need either a local network or an internet connection.

Camera configuration

Regardless of whether you run our software locally or on Parquery’s cloud servers, you have two options to enable data transmission:

  • Option 1 (Push): Parquery provides an FTP server to let the cameras upload images at the desired interval;
  • Option 2 (Pull): Parquery connects to the camera’s IP address to gather images at the desired interval.

In either case our Operations Team will help you configure your cameras for the best possible results.

On-site camera installation

The customer can decide whether to install the cameras themselves, commission an installation company, or work with one of Parquery's professional installer partners.

  • Whichever option you choose, Parquery will accompany your installer on the day of camera installation to ensure a smooth process.
  • A Parquery professional will work with your installer every step of the way directly on-site, over the phone or via video conference. Thus, we can make sure the cameras deliver the best possible views for parking area analysis.
Parquery supports customers during camera installation, either on-site or remotely

Parquery's solution is easy to implement, and it is possible to use existing cameras.

It is an ideal solution, and is also more efficient than sensors.
