Parquery brings value to City Administrations and Parking Managers who want to leverage the benefits of smart parking:

City Administrations can improve the quality of life of their citizens by making parking resources more accessible to drivers.

Parking Managers can improve revenues, operations, legal certainty over undisciplined drivers and overall system efficiency. From the basic enforcement tools to advanced modules, such as the double parking detection, Parquery can transform enforcement from a cost center into a revenue center by improving compliance while reducing fines number.

Grande Place, Vevey, Switzerland

Success Story

Parquery has been working with the City of Vevey in Switzerland since January 2016 providing occupancy information for city administration as well as for drivers.

The surveyed parking area on “Grande Place” has 422 parking spaces that are monitored with only 2 cameras installed on the city premises. The Parquery parking management system analyzes static images from camera feeds and delivers data about availability for the drivers in real time. The parking operator also receives information about both parking availability and duration for each spot, and this same data can easily be cross-referenced with the payment information.

By cross referencing, the Parquery parking management system provides parking operators with valuable information for enforcement. For example, if a driver has parked without paying or has exceeded his/her paid parking time, the system informs the operator. Another benefit of the enforcement capabilities is the ability to detect drivers that have overstayed the maximum hour limit. For instance, the parking area in Vevey has a strict 3-hour limit and renewing the 3 hours is not allowed. If, after the three hours, a driver simply pays three hours again, the system also notifies the parking operator.

How it works

All 422 parking spots are monitored by only 2 cameras. Each camera is installed at 15-meter height, on a building which belongs to the client. Due to the cameras’ height, neither the vehicles’ numerical plate nor people’s face features can be distinguished. Once analyzed, any image from one of these cameras is automatically deleted.

What the client appreciates

‘‘The vehicle detection service offered by Parquery allows us to communicate in real time and reliably the availability of an open car park of 450 places. This service has also been integrated into the parking enforcement applications of the car park and has improved the work efficiency of police assistants,” explains Daniel Gnerre from the City of Vevey. City of Locarno (TI), Switzerland

Success Story

The City of Locarno (Switzerland) has been using on-street parking for already two years now. Twenty cameras have been installed on street lamp posts in Locarno. The technical services from the City have now access to occupation and parking duration for each on-street parking spot. Drivers can also use a real-time-updated Parquery WebApp to know where are the available parking spots.

How it works

Each camera monitors approximately 12 parking spots, located on both sides of the road, depending on its configuration. Each camera is installed at 12-meter height, on a street lamp post. Due to the cameras’ height, neither the vehicles’ numerical plate nor people’s face features can be distinguished. Once analyzed, any image from one of these cameras is automatically deleted.
